Along with learning letters and numbers, they learn kindness, respect, problem-solving, and how to work successfully with others. We believe these everyday social skills are just as important as academics. Children are greeted each day by the same teachers — the ones who know exactly which song calms them down at naptime, or which friend they want to sit by at snack. Before long, children know all of the teachers, and parents begin recognizing familiar faces at drop-off and pick-up each day. Those everyday relationships create a warm, welcoming environment where children feel safe, supported, and excited to come to school. Children aren't born knowing how to wait for a turn, solve disagreements, ask to join a friend's activity, or handle disappointment. At Peppertree, we intentionally teach these everyday social skills through Grace & Courtesy lessons. When challenges arise, our teachers see them as opportunities to teach—not simply behaviors to correct. Over time, children develop the confidence and social skills they need to become respectful, capable members of a classroom community.

A typical day at Peppertree Montessori includes a balance of learning, exploration, outdoor play, and time with friends. During the morning work period, you might see one child carefully spooning beans from one bowl to another, another tracing a wooden shape with their finger, and a third curled up with a book they picked out themselves. Teachers move throughout the classroom giving individual lessons and guiding children as they explore new concepts. Throughout the day, children also practice the everyday social skills that help a classroom run smoothly. These small, everyday moments — a child asking a friend to play, or working through a disagreement on their own — happen constantly throughout the day, and they're treated as real learning, not just classroom management. These Grace & Courtesy lessons become a natural part of each day, helping children grow in confidence and independence.

Keeping children healthy is something we think about every day. While no preschool can prevent every illness, we believe thoughtful daily practices help create a healthier place for children to learn and grow. Every classroom has its own air purifier, and we follow detailed daily cleaning and sanitizing procedures throughout the school. Our staff is trained in proper cleaning practices to help reduce the spread of illness while maintaining a safe, healthy environment for children. We also use an EPA-registered, bleach-free botanical disinfectant applied with a cordless electrostatic sprayer to disinfect classrooms and high-touch surfaces. We intentionally chose products that are both highly effective and appropriate for a childcare environment. Your child's health is just as important to us as it is to you.
